About the TRMA

The Titanic Research and Modeling Association started as an inauspicious group of modelers and historians in Chicago in 1998.  Since then it has evolved into a worldwide organization of modelers, technical experts, and historians.  Today TRMA counts among its members people from the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and Argentina, just to name a few countries.

The TRMA provides, through this website, the most information available anywhere on the engineering, construction, and operation of the RMS Titanic.  Some of the most knowledgeable experts in the Titanic field are a part of TRMA, and thanks to them TRMA has an impressive list of achievements to their credit.  TRMA trustees have produced the most accurate interior and exterior ship's plans available today, and are credited with a major part of improving the accuracy of the Minicraft model kit.  TRMA has also made a number of significant research finds over the years, identifying parts of the ship that were hitherto unknown or not understood.

For modelers, the TRMA provides unparallelled resources to assist in the selection, completion and technical detailing of a kit.  Whether you're completing a basic kit or a super-detailed replica that demands exacting historical accuracy, TRMA can assist you.  The most comprehensive paint color reference available anywhere, rigging and sidelight references, and highly-detailed, scale-accurate window decals are just a few resources available here - all put together by expert modelers and technical experts within TRMA.

Discussion Forums

The TRMA Discussion Forum is the best place on the web to have your questions answered and to dialogue with the experts or others who share the same interest.  Subjects include anything related to modeling or the ship itself, and not just Titanic!   While TRMA started out as a "Titanic-only" organization, it has grown to include all other ocean liners of Titanic's era as well.   And participation is welcome from EVERYONE, whether they're a novice or an expert. We're all here to help one another, regardless of the question asked.
· Questions on Titanic - Design, Construction, operation & history
· Questions on other Olympic Class ships & all other steamers of the era
· Questions on modeling, both basic and advanced
· Posting new information for the benefit of others
· Exchange of information on modeling, research & historical subjects

Register through the Forum and become a member!

Unlike some websites, you do not need to register or provide any personal information to access the Discussion Forum or participate in any discussion.  If you do choose to register, you can provide as much or as little personal information as you choose.  Most people provide their name (first name only is OK) their age and gender, and country of residence. The only required piece of information is your email address (to prevent duplicate registrations) - but only the information that you want others to see will appear.  And TRMA never makes its member information available to anyone.

So why should you register?

TRMA is not a chat room.  It's a community of modelers, historians and other persons - both expert and amateur - who share the same interest.  If you've been with us a while and have never registered, or like what you see and intend to visit or participate on a regular basis, there are a few advantages to registering as a member:

  • Free access to private email through this site.  If you want to communicate with another member to ask a question or provide information privately, you can do so without having to provide your personal email address - a big plus in today's age of heightened internet security.

  • Configuring the Forum to your own preferences.  You can set your profile to display the information the way you want it, including flagging new messages or alerting you to new message on a particular topic.

  • Access to other member profiles, so you can look up the information that others have chosen to display in order know more about them.

And, by registering as a member you can consider yourself a part of TRMA.  We're certainly an organization you can take great pride in as a member, whether you're a regular contributor or not.
