#5 hatch flanking doors

Bruce - I read your synopsis based on your enlarged photo observations. I find them plausible but I do not discount that the doors were there based on the following factors: a) that outfitting photo on page 25 of IH should not be taken as the definitive answer considering the port #4 hatch window whic we think disappears from the ship at launch (using the later Belfast Bonsall photo). 2. The D shaped crane bases rather than the circular ones may cramp doors on the angled walls as opposed to ones placed on either side of #5 hatch to mirror those as seen by #6 hatch. 3. Marschall includes them on the straight bulkhead in his cut-away painting. I am not saying you are wrong, just that it needs further information drawn from post-launch photos (if any exist of this area). I would be leary to discount it on the outfitting photo knowing that changes will be made along that #4 hatch port lavatory/bar? wall from what is seen at the time of the photo. The doors make sense there and we know that shed won't be staying
along the portr side of #5 hatch. There seems to be these types of barricades and construction structures in photos during early outfitting. Thoughts?
