The plans specify on the Boat Deck for the planks to be 3in. thick by 5in. wide yellow pine. I don't think there was any uniform length. I would imagine they had planks of varying length delivered and just cut the length as needed. There was probably a specification for minimum and maximum plank length but that was probably not written down but rather something that was common knowledge to ships carpenters. I would guess that the planks varied in length between 12 and 20 ft. but thats just a rough guess. More important than the length are the rules for staggering the end to end plank joints.
