Mark:
In looking at the Britannic plan of the dome it appears that:
1. The dome itself was identical in dimensions to the base of one of the funnels.
The funnel dimensions are given as: 24.5 ft. long axis by 19ft. short axis in
the Thomas Andrews notebook..
I haven't made precise measurements but it appears that the skylight cover
itself had roughly 6 inches clearance all around. Therefore the cover would
be 25.5 ft. long fore and aft by 20ft. port to starboard. I don't know how that
squares with the Hahn plans or the PE sets but I believe it to be accurate.
I will try drawing the panes within these dimensions to identify the pane
dimensions. The height of the cover on the rigging plan appears to be 6ft.
I am seriously thinking about making an accurate sized GSC and
the panes with a decal instead of a PE part.

: I agree. The chandelier took up a large part of the center of the dome, so there would have to be a way to anchor it. As I remember (I'm at work), the pic of a similar dome in the Sisters book shows the center section as solid. The center circle in the cover should have been a solid metal too. No need for a window there.
: Finally, it should be pointed out that the other panes in the cover were in fact square, not rectangular as depicted onmost PE parts. The reason is that the cover on the real ship was much narrower than the kit piece. To fit the same amount of panes in the model dome without changing the size, you have to make the panes rectangular. So far, only the Tom Nicholai cover is the correct size. But it requires the modeler to do some surgery on the dome base and fabricate new walls.
